MILL HILL ACADEMY

DAY: SATURDAY | TIME: 10AM - 12 / 1PM | LOCATION: MILL HILL SCHOOL, NW7 1QS

Mill Hill Academy is open to children aged 5-15 and is split into the following age groups, 5–7, 8–10, and 11-15. We welcome pupils from any school who are passionate about the Performing Arts.

5–7 years
In these sessions, children begin building the foundations of technique, performance skills, and creative expression in a fun and encouraging environment. We focus on helping them grow in confidence, work well with others, and discover the joy of performing, all while developing their imagination and early stage skills.

8–10 years
In these sessions, students continue developing their technique, performance skills, and creative expression, while taking on more challenging routines and scripts. We encourage them to refine their skills, build confidence in performing for an audience, and work collaboratively to bring their creativity to life.

11-15 years
In these sessions, students work on advancing their technique, performance skills, and artistic expression to a higher standard. We focus on honing their craft, preparing them for more demanding performances, and deepening their understanding of stage presence and interpretation, all while building confidence, resilience, and creativity.

Each summer, students also have the exciting opportunity to showcase their development in a show at a local theatre, providing a professional platform to celebrate their hard work and achievements.

LAMDA EXAMS (OPTIONAL)

All pupils have the option to take LAMDA exams. They are nationally recognised qualifications awarded by the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art. These exams help children develop skills in communication, memorisation, interpretation, and stage presence, and are a great way to build confidence in both performance and public speaking.

We currently offer three LAMDA syllabuses:

  • Acting

  • Acting (Duologues)

  • Verse and Prose

  • Public Speaking

Children can choose to take Solo exams, where they perform on their own, or Duologue exams, where they work with a partner (Duologue is only available for Acting). Exams typically take place every two terms, depending on the student’s age and grade.

All LAMDA exams are entered through LAMDA London, run by Hayley Reynolds. (Please note all LAMDA is taught by JoRo Arts teachers.)
